With developing a specific case study, using the example of Statfjord B, I further aim to proof actual ability to transform offshore structures, while recognising the outstanding engineering achievements of the past. In my post oil scenario, the refurbishment of the platform defines the starting point for a long-term strategy of reusing designated abandoned concrete facilities in the North Sea as an alternative to demolishing.
